For more than 30 years, the Vienna Classic Days have developed into a traditional event and a cultural event in a class of its own. On August 26th and 27th, 2023, the rolling automobile museum in Vienna presented itself from the most beautiful side.

Also traditional: the JDOST club stand in the start area of the event. New this year: the start with the main sponsor Huma eleven in Simmering. On Sunday – as usual – at the foot of the Danube Tower. With our event tent and some of our members’ vehicles, we were right in the middle of it instead of just there.

On Saturday, stand construction began at 7 a.m. in car park A of Huma eleven, when the roosters were still dreaming. Punctually before 8 a.m. we were ready and waiting for the influx of spectators. The parking lot, where the participants could park their vehicles until the start, was full by the time the race started at 10 a.m. Some interested parties visited our stand to get comprehensive information or just to chat. The start of all almost 200 participants took a little longer than an hour. After that, spectators and interested parties left the site and things got very busy at the parking lot next to the Dehn plant market. We decided to break up the tent at noon and use the rest of the day for something else.

We presented the visitors with a number of classic Jaguars that were well received: Jaguar Mk II, XJ6, XJ12 and XJ-S. A modern top sports car, a Jaguar F-TYPE P450 RWD 75 completes the fleet of presentation vehicles. A beautiful Austin Healey joined them for a short time. The construction on Sunday at the foot of the Danube Tower began a little later, around 9.30 am. We were more than ready in time for the arrival of the first guests and visitors. In addition to a Jaguar XJ6 (XJ40) and an XJ6 Series III, a Triumph TR 250 and a TVR Chimera delighted the audience. Secret hero on the square: the F-TYPE special model ’75 years of Jaguar sports cars’. Again the start was at 10 o’clock.

As every year, JDOST organized the special test at the Vienna Stock Exchange. Participants had to answer a question quickly and correctly. The top three received a prize kindly provided by Jaguar Land Rover. The weather gods said this year he had to grill us in the tent. We countered with enough mineral water, cyclists and ice cream.

The rally participants came back to the Donaupark from about half past twelve and lined up with their vintage cars in the Donaupark – the planned picnic was a pleasure. From 3.30 p.m. the final event took place in the Donaubräu – as part of the awards ceremony. The Schöbel team took part in the vintage car rally and achieved xxth place. The overall results will be published on the website www.viennaclassicdays.com in the next few days. Congratulations in advance for the successful participation! The rally on Saturday led from Simmering through Vienna to the local mountains of Vienna and back into the city to the Rossauer Lände. After the traditional tour of the Ringstrasse in Vienna, the first day ended with a cozy dinner in Schloss Neugebäude Palace.

On Sunday we went through the city, where some special tests had to be completed. The route then led back to the Danube Park.

A wonderful, interesting weekend with many impressions passed. A big thank you to everyone who took part in looking after the stand and at the fair, to everyone who made their valuable vehicles available and to the team at Motor Mythos Bromberger, who organized this event so well.

We’re already looking forward to next year, when it’s time to say ‘The Automobile Museum is rolling through Vienna again’!
