On Saturday, 15 March 2025, 16 members and friends of the JDOST gathered at the Daytona Raceways indoor karting hall in Langenzersdorf. The meeting began at 4.00 p.m. and eleven participants – fortunately including two women – took up the challenge. After a brief discussion of the race schedule, they took their seats in their petrol-powered karts to prove themselves in the ten-minute qualifying session. This was followed by two exciting 18-minute races.
The latest version of the classic RiMO kart was used, equipped with a 9.5 hp Honda GX 200 cc racing engine and racing air filter. Lorenz G., Wolfgang Sch. and Lukas Sch. secured the first three grid positions in qualifying. Lorenz G. then dominated both races, but the competition did not make it easy for him. Wolfgang Sch. in particular fought intense duels with him, while the other drivers also gave their all, gave nothing away and kept overtaking each other.
Marion Sch. and Dana N. also fought hard, but were beaten by the strong male competition. After 40 exciting minutes on the race track, the winners were duly honoured: Lukas Sch. took third place, Wolfgang Sch. came second and Lorenz G. was the beaming winner at the top of the podium.
After the award ceremony, the race bar was the venue for lively discussions about the race, the times achieved and exciting overtaking manoeuvres. The event was a complete success and was a great pleasure for all participants. The group rounded off the sporting day at the Pizzeria Da Giovanni in Strebersdorf. In a convivial atmosphere, they talked about the race for a long time and laughed a lot. The enthusiasm was so great that the JDOST has decided to repeat this event in any case.
