Despite bad weather forecasts, 20 members arrived at the Landhotel Haagerhof in Aigen on Friday evening. To protect cars and people, the classic cars were allowed to stay dry at home and vehicles that were more suitable for the weather were used. After a short speech by the Winkler family organizing team and an extensive dinner, the last participants went to their rooms after 10 p.m.
On Saturday all members met for breakfast and at 9:00 a.m. the group set off for Germany. Due to detours, the organizing team had to repeatedly adjust the route to guide us to the “Streicher Vehicle and Art Museum” in Lalling. Once there, we visited the museum with its almost 100 vehicles and over 200 motorcycles and after detailed discussions with the owner, we drove on over the “Weißwurst equator” to the “Bräustüberl” in Zwiesel, where Weißwurst and other delicacies were waiting for the troops. Strengthened, we continued on to the Czech Republic, where we were able to explore the moor lake “Chalupská slať (Great King Felt)” using a wooden educational trail. After the walk, we fortified ourselves with coffee and cake in “Madame Chocolate”. Afterwards we drove back to the hotel, where the day ended with dinner and lots of good conversations.
On Sunday we started at 9:00 a.m. through the Bohemian Forest to Český Krumlov, where our tour guide was waiting for us at the Hotel Gold. Strengthened by coffee, we started our city tour through Český Krumlov, despite the heavy rain, where there were many sights to discover. Due to the deterioration in the weather and the storm situation in Lower Austria, the afternoon planning had to be canceled. So we looked for a restaurant in Český Krumlov and enjoyed lunch together before everyone started the journey home.
Many thanks to the organizers M. + H. Winkler for planning and carrying out this excursion, as well as to all participants who braved the weather and thus made this excursion possible.
